It was that invisible glowing tunnel
That stopped my tears from shedding
And my words of life-cursing
It was formed right before my eyes
Dropped down from the sky
Containing a creature slowly descending
Within the brightness of the edges of the tunnel
A bright circled spotlight was then reflected
Only a couple of inches away from me
For it to reach the top of my exposed roof
Like a royal angel
It took forever, or moments until it earthly reached me
I could tell it was a visitor
Or perhaps an angel fallen from the sky
Visiting me! While I cried alone
I couldn’t blink, and miss moments of the prepared arrival
There was an intense sound of unseen sparkles
Right before it gracefully reached
Preparing to land
On the spotlight which was reflected
Only few inches away from me
I was surprised, to see she was me
Older, with wrinkles of wisdom
and smaller eyes
With a smile, much wider than mine
Filling the air with a scent of glory
And wings.. That covered the extent of my sight
My heart was beating so fast
And my tears were prisoned of excitement
I was gazing delightfully, still confused
Did not know what to expect
Feeling adrenalized
I was surprised, to see she was me
She was hope
Looking me in the eyes
Holding the armor of power and success
Silently telling me to hold on to life
And smile
For at the end of the tunnel
There is always light
I was surprised, to see she was me
Reminding my youthful self
That without the darkness of the sky
We wouldn’t have admired the stars
wow excellent last verse alia. loved it
Thank you Arjun !
Very powerful. I like the sentiment very much.
“I was surprised, to see she was me.. She was hope, looking me in the eyes.. Holding the armor of power and success”
I have never read a more inspiring line. One day soon, you will hold that armor, only it will be made of gold and rubies instead.
You would be the one passing it on to me ❤
Thank you for such an awesome, powerful piece! 🙂 I enjoyed it a lot! I liked the twist from an angel to your own inner self. … I think that made me like your piece more … it is good and healthy to see yourself from such an angle.
Cheers,
🙂
PS: I will keep checking for your updates. … iLike your blog!
Thank you for your kind words Elyas. I portrayed “a promise of a bright future” as an angel. To clarify my thought, if a person had this image of oneself, then determination to a successful future would build up.
I don’t want you to think I’m an egotist 😛 hehe.
Please do, I hope to read more of your comments !
I don’t think it comes out as ego-driven piece. Quite the opposite…
“To clarify my thought, if a person had this image of oneself, then determination to a successful future would build up.” Yes, that is what I got out of it and that is why I liked it! 🙂
Keep writing! … and I wish I could read your Arabic (?) entries. 😛 I am getting more reasons to take my Arabic studying ambition quite seriously. 🙂
Btw … am adding your blog to my list … fyi 🙂
Cheers
my list, meaning my blogroll 🙂
Will do so, and I hope to read more of your feedback on what I will post.
I encourage you to do so, Arabic poetry is so beautiful and powerful. Thank you Elyas ! I subscribed to your blog 🙂
My hope is to one day read “One Thousand and One Nights” (The Arabian Nights) in its original form … and of course all the other great literatures that continue to inspire generations. 🙂 … Inshalah 😀
Alia S, I loved this piece! what i found so endearing was that “she was me”, wonderful. You captured the essence of the Light very well. When I had my near-death experience, the Light that came to me was filled with such radiant love, peace, joy and comfort that I wish I could describe it well enough for people to really understand, but I can’t. I guess that has to wait for heaven itself to show them. Peace and blessings 🙂
Thank you for your lovely words, I’m glad you liked it.
I wish you could try to describe your experience in a poem or a story.
I am glad it was just an experience and I hope you are better now :).
Please stop by more often !
I love this powerful poem of self-acceptance and hope. It’s beautiful.
Thank you ! Happy to know you liked it 🙂
miss alia… i can’t just believe … oh my god.. it was awesome… if someone can actually write complexed lines with intricate feelings and still be simple and to the point at the same time, it can be none other than you… awesome work..
Wow! This piece is quite a magical journey. Reflective and uplifting! I agree with the other commenter, Elyas, about the transition from angel to self, and felt that this aspect was very powerful. Loved it!
I’m very happy you liked it. Thank you for your words! 🙂
